Earth Day 2023

Earth Day 2023

Earth Day

Launching back in 1970 and continuing annually ever since, Earth Day is all about investing in our planet with a mission to diversify, educate and activate the environmental movement worldwide. This year’s Earth Day took place on Saturday 22nd April and The Liberty Romford joined 150,000 other businesses in doing their bit to drive positive action for our planet. To surprise their shoppers on the day, The Liberty Romford gave away 500 FREE stylish Liberty branded Jute bags which were sustainably made and the perfect alternative to plastic shopping bags.

Reducing Plastic Use

The Liberty Romford Centre Manager, Tom Stobbart, commented, “It wasn’t just shoppers that received a free gift from us on Earth Day, we also wanted to give back to our centre staff so we treated them to an eco water bottle made from prevented ocean plastic to help reduce single use plastic.” To find out more about Earth Day and how you can do your bit ahead of the next date in 2024, visit www.earthday.org.

Sustainable Fashion Ranges

The centre team also spoke to shoppers to raise awareness of the sustainable fashion ranges available from their stores such as Clarks, Flannels, H&M, M&S, New Look, Next, Primark, River Island, Superdry and more. These sustainable fashion ranges were also highlighted on the centre’s website to inform customers that one of the easiest ways to get involved and do their bit in making a difference to the planet is by wearing their support.
